Our Studio

Bridging the gap between design and manufacturing

Creatively pushing the boundaries of knitwear design whilst maintaining commercial viability

THE STUDIO

Sophie Steller Studio was founded in 1996 with a view to bridge the gap between design and manufacturing by pushing the boundaries of knitwear development whilst remaining commercially viable.

Drawing on Sophie’s extensive knowledge of the industry the studio has carved a niche for offering a creative hub for designers to see their ideas realised using the latest knitwear technology by a team of highly skilled and talented designers.

As a micro sample room our designers can knit bespoke fabrics from 3gg - 16gg Stoll and Shima all factory ready with programs to support them.

Knitwear is our DNA so we are able to apply our market knowledge to all aspects of the industry successfully helping clients grow their businesses.

From whole trend forums, exhibition stands, yarn and colour card collections, garment ranges, fabric development to virtual sampling and visual marketing support, our skills extend to all aspects of the knitwear industry.

Meet the Team

Sophie Steller

As founder and creative director of Sophie Steller Studio, Sophie has a heritage of design and textiles extending back into her family history, further nurturing the love of colour and textures during her fashion and knitwear degree at Winchester School of Art.

Her ability to identify and translate emerging trends started in her first job working for Arcadia developing trends for all brands, however it was her move to New York working for Joseph Abboud and American Eagle Outfitters that cemented her ability to turn trends into commercial reality.

Gaining valuable experience in design, global sourcing and production laid the foundations for her approach today, working fluidly and collaboratively across all areas of the industry to allow her range of knowledge and skills benefit  her clients.
